Lazy Day

I had the best of intentions today, woke up ready to work, but as the day started up, it became clear that all of us had colds.

It turned into a taking it easy with my cup of tea by my side day.

I did get one of my new socks finished. The yarn is pretty ugly, but the pattern was great. This is the first sock that fits me at my toes, hugs my instep and is really comfortable around my ankles. It is really my learning sock from Cat Bordhi's book "Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters". If you have any interest at all in knitting socks, this book is worth the price! I even have my cardboard footprint all ready to laminate so I can take it with me when I'm out and about.

I also put together a couple of cards. My favorite was a Snoopy Halloween card. I used MTC with my cricut and a great file to put it together. It was fun, and I think I'm going to have to use my Cricut much more. The link to the cutting file I used is found at: http://www.scrappinwithz.blogspot.com/

Maybe next time I'll get the nerve up to create my own file.

Giving myself some goals

I've noticed that I'm getting lazy about the things I do for fun.... I have a lot of interests and find myself not taking time to do much of anything lately.

The first step I'm taking is to get back to working on my cards and scrapbooking more consistantly. I have my Cricut to explore, scrapbooks planned and inspiration to do a lot of different cards, but haven't really done much at all in the last month.

That being said, here is my first set of cards made since I decided to get my act together. They're using Close To My Heart stamp set "Happy Together" and a really fun paper pack. I explored using different types of embelishments on each of these little cards. I think they would be fun to use for a baby gift.
The stamp set is Close To My Heart's Stamp of the Month for July. If you're interested it is available on my CTMH website at http://cathleneb.myctmh.com/.

Artists

My husbands co-worker is a talented artist and recreated a picture we had of our daughter performing in Nutcracker last year. It is beautiful, and I am so happy to have it. There are talented people all around and I hope to never underestimate how important the arts are in life. There is so much more in the world than the skills that are necessary to put food on our table and a roof over our heads.
What more can I say. Today's task will be to get out and get it properly framed so we can enjoy it for years to come.

Kid Taxi Day

Here is my card for the "Color Me Monday" Challenge I'm participating in. I was thinking I should glitz it up a bit more, but decided to leave it as it is.

I had such a good time using these colors, selecting a stamp set and then selecting the card size and layouts. So much freedom!

I challenged myself to do it again this week, using the colors from Jeannettes Blog post from 3/15. This weeks colors are Chocolate, Goldrush, New England Ivy and Sweet Leaf.

Today is a day devoted to acting as Taxi driver for my daughter. Doctors appointment, testing center, and dance studio. It doesn't sound like much, but none of these places is near our home, and none of them are really very close to each other. In between, I'm trying to take care of the little errands I would normally use my lunch break to accomplish.

I dream of the days when everywhere I needed to go was easily reached on foot!

Wow! It has been almost a year since I started the blog, and this is only my second post. Its time to start again.

I went to United Kingdom for work the end of February, and had a fabulous time. I loved the environment in the office, and I loved being able to get around on my own. I worked hard and still had time for some sight seeing. Best of all, I got to spend some time with my cousin and her family. I feel very fortunate. Now I need to figure out how I can bring the experiences I enjoyed so much back into my home.

This week, I'm going to design a card using Jeanette Lynton's Color Me Monday color scheme. I like to take on tasks like this because it is fun to stretch my creative talents by using color schemes I wouldn't choose on my own. Check out Jeanette's Blog to see this weeks colors and give it a try. The colors are going to be great in my cards. Hopefully, I will have one to post here sometime this week.

Beginnings

It seems the hardest part of any new activity is just starting, at least that is true for me. I've been thinking about starting a BLOG a long time, I guess now is as good as any time to start.

We had a winter surprise over the weekend. Heavy wet snow came down at an alarming rate Friday night into Saturday. Its been so warm though, and some of the snow turned to rain, so we don't have much left on the ground after one day of Sunshine. I guess that's life. I do have a picture of my tulips poking out of the snow. These brave little flowers really made me happy yesterday morning when I was out with the dog.

I spent the stormy day re-organizing my craft room, and working on scrapbook pages. I am a Close To My Heart consultant, and am really excited about the new productions coming up in the next catalog. I am planning lots of playtime as I explore new products and see how they mix in with all my older favorites.
